A RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY IN THE HILLS OF WESTSIDE LOS ANGELES
BEL-AIR (also referred to as "Bel Air" or "Bel-Air Estates") is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles in the Westside region of Los Angeles County. It is approximately 6.37 square miles, with a population of just over 8,200, and is situated about 12 miles west of Downtown Los Angeles. The neighboring communities are Beverly Crest, Brentwood, Encino, Sherman Oaks and Westwood. The two main entrances to Bel-Air include: (1) the East Gate at Beverly Glen and Sunset Boulevards; and (2) the West Gate at Bellagio Road and Sunset Boulevard, opposite an entrance to UCLA. Bel-Air is generally subdivided into three distinct neighborhoods: East Gate Old Bel-Air, West Gate Bel-Air, and Upper Bel-Air. At the heart of the community sits the BEL-AIR COUNTRY CLUB and the HOTEL BEL-AIR. Residences range from relatively modest ranch-style houses, to large mansions and ordinances regarding architectural styles and lot sizes help to preserve the area. Together with Beverly Hills and Holmby Hills, Bel-Air forms the "Platinum Triangle" of Los Angeles neighborhoods. Along with Beverly Hills and the Los Angeles community of Brentwood, it is also referred to as one of the "Three Bs," a wealthy area in the Los Angeles Westside.
